CURRENT PROJECTS
African-American Culture: Overtown, Florida was established by Henry Flagler to create a ready source of African-American labor to build his railroad, but far enough away from downtown Miami to not be seen by white people. Although it was an economically deprived community, it blossomed as the hub of black cultural life until the interstate highway system ploughed through it in the 1960's. The Golden Side of the Tracks
presents a never-before-seen view of this vibrant community.
Yiddish Culture on South Beach: Miami Beach was a mecca of Jewish life hosting Yiddish theater and literary and political activity until the Art Deco revolution transformed this ethnically rich place to a pastel shadow of its former self. Where Neon Goes to Die
captures the life and death of this tropical Yiddishland and its attempts at rebirth.
Mountain Culture and Tradition: The Southern Appalachians have been host to culture for over 12,000 years from the Cherokee to the Scots-Irish to the waves of suburbanites who flock there today. Mountain music and traditions still have a strong foothold in the mountains and this documentary will capture the essence of A World Where the Grass Grows Blue. (In Production)
